These boys are doing it! What all started with a friend giving these boys used soft plastics to melt down to make their own has turned in to so much more! These three are learning so much about:
Communication Brant, Titus and Sawyer do 99% of the communicating with tournament participants and with those who order baits. The boys do a lot of voice texting through our cell phones and with Facebook messenger. - Consistency They know to keep friends and customers engaged, they have to create new content regularly for their Facebook page and Youtube channel. They have a lot of fun with their go-pros, our i-pad and video apps. They’ve also learned the importance of having baits on hand and being consistent with making new bags up.
Community The fishing community in our area has been so supportive of the boys. Theyhave anglers who make it to every tournament they host. The boys have built good friendships with the Bass Fishermen Coaches nearby, too. It’s great seeing businessmen, teachers, hobbyists, and more help these boys be successful.
CreativityIn 2019, Brant and Titus started making soft plastic baits. They made their ownmolds!! In 2020, they bought molds and started making soft plastics to sell. Thisyear they added making crank baits and spooks out of wood. They spend a lot of time hand carving down the baits, fitting all the pieces together, and paintingthe bait. Another way they get creative is by how they edit their videos. We havetried hard to teach them all the skills they need to know to create content so that they can use the skills in the future in whatever career they pursue. ———————————————————————————————————————
Last year, we tried thinking of a way to connect with more fishermen. What about a tournament? None of us had ever hosted one before but we worked together to figure out the details and got connected with the right people. Thompson Tackle is now hosting a fishing tournament the first Friday of every month. Working Hard + Having Fun!
