Like many other families, our summer is in FULL SWING!! We are soaking up the sunshine, packing our calendar full of trips, enjoying the hours at the ball field, eating dinner at 3:30 or 9:30…or even sometimes both!! All three of our boys love to play baseball - thank goodness or things could get a little awkward around here with their dad… ha ha…just teasing…kinda. Not only do the boys play, but we host Hard Knox Training Camp - Summer of Fundamentals. It’s a family thing! Curtis is the head coach, motivational speaker, drill sergeant; Brant, Titus & Sawyer are amazing assistant coaches; and I take care of the “extras” aka the important stuff like bandaids, popsicles, and watching that no one gets whacked upside the head with a bat. We all know our roles and really enjoying hosting baseball camps for kids in our area. As a family, we are intentional about using these camps as a way to serve others. We want our sons to know that true happiness and richness in life is about how we can give back, use the talents God has given us to help others, and to serve without expectations. Serving as a family strengthens our bond with one another. It creates lasting memories. We all get to connect with people who live around us and build strong relationships. There are so many benefits of serving together!! I truly believe we should view our life as our ministry. As with the example of above - no, we aren’t serving in a church or sharing scriptures - but we are showing love, compassion, gentleness, self-control… all qualities Jesus talks about in the bible. Curtis has coached since he was 16 years old. To know Curtis is to know the walking definition of a coach. He LOVES…I mean absolutely eats up… teaching the fundamentals. Many think it’s just to sports but his coaching the fundamentals ranges from putting in a new faucet, to how to build a fence, to the proper way to swing a bat, to how to install a new toilet - he loves teaching the basics. From just living a life of ministry, he’s even had the opportunity to baptize a basketball player he coached for many years. He’s continued being a mentor and referral for many of his former athletes and students. A few weeks ago, we had a gentlemen who participates in Thompson Tackle fishing tournaments let us know that the tournament brought him and his best friend back together. They had lost touch over the years and back in April, his friend text him and asked if he’d like to be his fishing partner. We love hearing stories like that of people reconnecting and building friendships back up!!! By posting positive quotes, scriptures, worship songs on social media, I have had several people reach out to me for prayer. Some whom I know slightly, while others were and still are complete strangers beyond social media today! Sometimes we can overthink how we can make an impact. I love love love the quote “do for one what you want to do for hundreds”. Serve ONE homeless person a meal. Send ONE card to the nursing home. Share ONE positive quote on facebook.Pray for ONE person everyday. Teach ONE Sunday School class. Rock ONE baby for a wore out mom.Give ONE hug to a hurting person. High Five ONE young baseball player.Pay it forward ONE time in the drive-thru.Don’t get hung up in the what, the how manys, the might not work, the I don’t know all the details… and DO!!! In life, we will regret more of the things we didn’t do than what we did. Don’t hold back. LIVE and GIVE BIG!!! Start with one. One matters!Live a life set apart, Rach (aka crazy travelin’, goofy friend; baseball gamin’ momma! who loves to give!!)Scripture:Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Quote:”Do for one what you wish you could do for everyone.” - Andy Stanley
